Twenty12 train bar: working with Brisbane City Council.

In collaboration with Brisbane Economic Development Agency and Brisbane City Council, Twenty12 was conceived as a bold new hospitality concept designed to reimagine how people experience Queen Street Mall, Brisbane’s premier retail and lifestyle destination.

Developed to revitalise an underutilised section of the mall, the project explored how temporary and modular placemaking could activate the precinct while respecting its high-end retail context. The design integrates seamlessly into the surrounding urban fabric, offering a refined alfresco dining experience that reflects the Queensland lifestyle and encourages people to slow down, connect and engage in the heart of the city.

A key focus of the project was flexibility and minimal disruption. Through a modular, offsite construction approach, the venue was designed to be fully fabricated, fitted out and tested prior to installation. This methodology demonstrated a new model for agile, sustainable placemaking within highly active civic environments.

As Brisbane continues to evolve toward the 2032 Olympic Games, The Amica Project represents a forward-looking approach to city activation, blending hospitality, design innovation and economic development to create meaningful public experiences.

Twenty12 train bar: working with Queensland Rail.

For Queensland Rail, the project centred on the adaptive reuse of a 1960s Queensland Rail 2000 series railcar, transformed into a high-quality bar and dining venue as part of a proposed activation at South Brisbane Station.

The concept reimagined a decommissioned piece of rail infrastructure as a contemporary hospitality destination, celebrating Brisbane’s transport heritage while introducing modern design and functionality. The railcar interior was carefully designed to accommodate a full commercial kitchen, bar, integrated services and bespoke interior detailing, delivering a premium experience within a compact and character-rich structure.

The concept showcases how heritage assets can be reimagined through design to create distinctive, culturally relevant spaces within Brisbane’s evolving urban landscape.
